We are arranging the Minority Changemaker Programme (MCP) in the Danish Border Association in cooperation with the University of Southern Denmark's Centre for Border Region Studies and Jaruplund Folk High School.
Partly, this is an interdisciplinary academic course on European national minorities and European nationalism awarding 15 ECTS combining fields like cultural studies, history, political science, gender studies and linguistics.
But MCP is also a course in the spirit of the Danish folk high school, taking place in Flensburg in the border region between Germany and Denmark. Here, community, learning for learning's sake, playfulness and personal development is cultivated. For example with elective courses in subjects such as music, art, cooking and crafts. The students will live at the school for about 3 months taking both academic and elective classes as well as helping with the daily work like cooking, cleaning and maintaining the school together. Therefore, the students will have a unique experience with both exploring concepts of minorities and nationalism while enjoying the particular joy of the Danish folk high schools.
The academic curriculum is available here: https://minoritychangemaker.graenseforeningen.dk/academics/academic-curriculum.
At Jaruplund Folk High School we offer an isolated corona-bubble, making it possible for students, who might have had their exchange-plans cancelled by the pandemic, to visit a new culture while earning ECTS credits. We offer all of this for the price of only 500 EUR for the whole stay – including room and board.
The course will take place from 28th March - 26th June 2021. You can read more about the course on our website: https://minoritychangemaker.graenseforeningen.dk/
